It's a Wrap!
Two School-Wide Celebrations
“What do you do with a gift? You wrap it!” This was Principal Field and Assistant Principal Bournas-Ney’s rallying cry at the Meadow Pond assembly celebrating Valentine’s Day, 100 Days of School and all of the students’ positive behavior and good choices represented by the tub of Moose Moolah next to them.
At that moment, the students realized why teachers were sitting on chairs with a lot of room around them, and what they were going to do with the piles of ribbons and roles of crepe paper at the other end of the gym.
The ultra-exciting celebration happened not once but twice on February 14--in the morning for grades 3 - 5 and in the afternoon for grades K-2.
Crepe paper and ribbons
Silly and sweet
a crazy lesson in teamwork
Class by class, trios of students ran across the gym and wrapped their teacher. When the music changed, they ran back, and a new team tore across the gym. It was a wrapping relay race! The last students delivered heart-shaped pink sunglasses, headbands with hearts and red bows.
The exercise and the excitement combined with the surprise and silliness left everyone smiling and happy, full of good feelings of belonging.
