December 6, 2020

Dear KLSD Families,

Yesterday we learned of an individual connected to John Jay High School who has returned a positive test for COVID-19. This individual was last at school on Tuesday, December 1 and contact tracing was necessary. By the time you’re reading this, all contacts have received either a phone call or an email from the District.

Unfortunately, the number of staff who must be quarantined, in addition to those who were already in quarantine, mean that we cannot welcome students for in-person instruction either tomorrow or Tuesday at JJHS. If nothing else changes, we expect to welcome students back for in-person instruction on Thursday, December 10.

As a reminder, all 8th graders at JJMS will also continue learning fully remotely on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

IMES, KES, and MPES, along with JJMS for 6th and 7th graders, will open for in-person learning tomorrow.

Thank you to all our community members who continue to share important information with us in a timely manner. We continue to wish everyone well,

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
