Story Walk

combining reading and the outdoors

Young students at Increase Miller Elementary took a Story Walk on the school’s nature trail. The fun concept features the pages of a picture book on display along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you're directed to the next page in the story.

“The students loved the opportunity to enjoy 'The Snail and the Whale'—a tale of friendship and creative problem solving—on the go,” said Librarian Juli Hoffman. She chose the book because it fits in perfectly with the summer reading theme of environmental stories.

For some of the students, the outing was their first trip to the nature trail. It came at a perfect time since the outdoor mask mandate was just lifted.

The students agreed they couldn't wait to do another Story Walk next year!
