Science Olympiad Team Advances
A premiere science competition
Students engage in academic and building events competitions in all STEM disciplines, usually two students to an event. All events are rigorous, National Science Standards-based challenges.

JOHN JAY'S science Olympiad teams
John Jay proceeds to the New York State Science Olympiad competition!
John Jay’s two Science Olympiad teams earned 18 event medals at the Lower Hudson Valley Regional and will proceed to the state competition at LeMoyne College, in Syracuse, NY, on March 13 and 14. "The competition was fierce among the 45 teams," reports Dr. Linda Burke, co-coach of John Jay's teams with science teacher Matthew Funnel. "Our two teams displayed well-rounded and deep preparedness, winning medals in biology, chemistry, computer science, earth science, engineering and physics events."
While other local high schools including Fox Lane, Pelham, Rye, and Scarsdale will also proceed to the state competition, John Jay is the only school in New York State to have achieved the distinction of moving to the state level for 32 years in the 35 years that Science Olympiad has existed in New York State!
