During gambling prevention month, JJHS seniors in Statistics and Calculus took part in an interactive presentation exploring the risks of gambling and its connection to mental health. Students examined probability and outcomes, common misconceptions, and analyzing risk and fairness.

JJHS 10th grader Kevin O’Donnell advanced to the 2026 USA National Brain Bee Championship at the University of California, Irvine. Top high school neuroscience students from across the country competed in topics like brain anatomy, neurological disorders, patient diagnosis, and research concepts.

Traditional Chinese dance performance at MPES. Students experienced the artistry and movement of the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company. For the grand finale they took to the stage and joined the performers.

From Buenos Aires to Mexico City, this JJHS Spanish class was selling the trip ✈️🇪🇸 As Spanish speaking travel agents, they created brochures and pitched destinations while answering questions from mock clients.

Leading with purpose ✨ JJHS students joined peers from across the region at the Young Women’s Leadership Summit at Manhattanville University, where students shared projects and ideas centered on leadership, advocacy, and community impact. Topics ranged from human rights and mental health to environmental awareness and women's empowerment. These three student leaders will also share their presentations at the May 21 Board of Education Meeting.

Conversations that matter 💬 Kathi and Chris Sullivan of Sullivan’s Message spoke with students and families about mental health, addiction, underage drinking, peer pressure, and the importance of looking out for one another. Chris shared what life looked like behind his NFL football career and success, and how addiction slowly took over before he was able to begin rebuilding his life in recovery.

🎙️Tiny Tasters podcast🎙️Second graders turned into food critics 🍽️✨They reviewed their favorite local spots, published a digital guide called "Tasty Places to Eat" on Book Creator, and took it one step further, recording podcasts in GarageBand to interview each other about their picks. Future critics in the making!

Designing for the future 🏡 JJHS environmental physics students took passive house design from concept to full build, mapping out blueprints, airflow, insulation, and energy systems with real-world purpose. Designs also incorporated accessibility features like ramps, wide doorways, and no-step layouts. High school students presented their projects to 4th graders at Increase Miller and Katonah Elementary, helping connect younger students to sustainability topics through peer-led learning.

A full day dedicated to well-being at JJMS 🌱 Students rotated through a wide range of wellness workshops, from yoga, barre, and outdoor activities to art, music, mindfulness, and hands-on experiences like cooking, sign language, vision board creation, and sing-along. Throughout the day, students explored new interests while learning strategies to support their well-being in and out of the classroom.

TOP 18 IN THE WORLD 🤖🌎 JJHS MOB Robotics team competed in the World Championships this weekend in Houston against top teams from across the globe. After a full round-robin tournament, they ranked 12th in their division, higher than any other team from New York State. They formed an alliance with two other teams and went on to win their division, becoming one of just six division champions. They made history in the final round as one of the top 18 robotics teams in the world.

Climate change and its real-world impact 🌎
MPES 5th graders participated in a climate change workshop with the PNW Boces Center for Environmental Education, learning how rising temperatures and sea levels are impacting both communities and wildlife, from increased flooding to changes in natural habitats. They also met Buffy the box turtle and saw how warmer winters have directly affected her.
