Students and Personal Electronic/Internet-Enabled Devices

In accordance with Education Law §2803 and in furtherance of KLSD’s commitment to creating conditions that foster learning and engagement, students are prohibited from non- instructional use of personal electronic/internet-enabled devices during the school day.
Definitions:
• Internet-Enabled Devices shall mean and include any smartphone, tablet, smartwatch or other device capable of connecting to the internet and enabling the user to access content on the internet, including social media applications, but do not include any such device supplied by the district for educational purposes.
• School Day shall mean the entirety of every instructional day as required by subdivision seven of section 3604 of the Education Law. This includes all instructional and non-instructional time, such as all classes, homeroom periods, lunch, recess, study halls, and passing time while on school grounds.
• School Grounds as shall mean in or on, or within any building structure, athletic playing field, playground, or land contained within the real property boundary line of any school in the district.
