what's blooming

It’s always a surprise to see what the seasonal new centerpieces are in Meadow Pond’s cafeteria each month. For October, the round tables are set with spider plants, complete with handmade spiders!

The centerpieces are created by What’s Blooming at Meadow Pond, an afterschool club for fourth graders, advised by teacher Christina D’Ambrosio.

The spider plants were grown in Meadow Pond greenhouse.  Students transferred them into the pots with the help of gardening educator Margi Corsello. The club also crafted the spider decorations nestled into each plant.

Members of What’s Blooming not only make centerpieces, but they care for plants in the greenhouse, gather greenery on the school campus, learn about the plants in each month’s centerpieces and present facts to the whole school at each Community Meeting.
