Welcome to NWEA MAP

NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) is a computer-adaptive assessment that provides teachers with helpful information about each student’s current skills, readiness for the next steps in learning, and growth over time.

Reading and math assessments will be given to all students in grades K–8. High school students in grades 9–11 will take the assessment in ELA, and students in select math courses (Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2) will take course-specific math assessments.

Key points:

·      Personalized and adaptive: MAP is a computer-adaptive assessment, meaning the questions adjust to each student’s skill level, giving an accurate picture of what each student knows and is ready to learn next.

·      Supports targeted instruction: MAP results help teachers understand each student’s strengths and areas for growth and use this information to guide instruction.

·      Tracks growth over time: Students are assessed multiple times each year, giving a clear view of progress throughout the school year.

·      Nationally normed benchmarks: MAP results are compared with students across the country, providing helpful context for understanding performance and growth.

·      Part of a comprehensive approach: Along with classroom, state, and other assessments, MAP helps build a comprehensive picture of student learning and achievement.

At this time, parent reports will not be sent home, as we are exploring the best ways to use these assessments to support teaching and learning. As systems and understanding are refined, we will begin sharing results with families.

Our goal is to help all students grow academically and build confidence in their learning.
