Dear KLSD Community,

Last night and today we learned of 2 more individuals connected to our schools who have tested positive for COVID-19.

One individual is connected to the John Jay High School community but has not been on campus in some time and does not require school-based contact tracing. The other individual is connected to the Increase Miller Elementary School community and did require contact tracing. By the time you’re reading this, all contacts have been reached by phone or email.

As always, we are working in consultation with WCDOH and our District’s medical director.

At this time, we do expect all schools to be open on Thursday for Cohort B and four-day students. As I mentioned last night, however, our staffing is increasingly stretched thin. If we learn of additional cases between now and Thursday, school status could change. Be assured that we are doing all we can to stay safely open.

As always, I wish all those who have contracted the virus a full and fast recovery.

Please continue to be vigilant with mask wearing, hand washing and social distancing.

Thank you,

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
