Welcoming Students Back

April 9, 2021

Dear KLSD Community,

We are excited to begin welcoming students back to school on a much more regular schedule starting this Monday. I’m writing today to ask for your partnership in helping this transition happen as smoothly and effectively as possible.

Health Screeners: It continues to be critically important that a health screener is completed each morning for each student before leaving for school. With more students attending, it will take more of our staff additional time to identify those who have not completed the screener. Please help us to keep everyone safe by completing it at home each morning. And please keep children home on any days they are not feeling well.

Traffic: We can anticipate more traffic each morning and afternoon in the next two weeks. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. We will be monitoring traffic patterns, and if we can make any adjustments to improve traffic flow, we will do so.

As a reminder, our return schedule is as follows:

Monday (4/12) – All 3rd, 8th, and 12th graders return. K – 2 continue in their current model. All other grades continue in the A/B cohort model.

Wednesday (4/14) - Will be a remote Wednesday, in order to assess transition so far and adapt protocols as necessary.

Thursday (4/15) – All 6th and 9th graders return. All other grades continue in their A/B cohort model.

Monday (4/19) – All grades return. There is no longer a cohort model.

Once again, my thanks to all our staff who are making this transition possible. My thanks to the entire community for the partnership necessary to keep all as safe as possible and to keep our schools open.

Be well,

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
