Three Important Reminders - October 13, 2021

October 13, 2021

Dear KLSD Community,

I write this evening with the following important reminders:

+ If you have not already consented to have your child tested at school as part of our weekly COVID testing program, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible. Testing is planned to begin next week. While the program is not mandatory for students, it is an important part of our effort to keep our community safe and our schools open. Providing consent is a two-step process that requires completion of a KLSD form and registration on the Quadrant Biosciences website. All the necessary links and forms, as well as additional information, can be found here on our website.

+ For our middle and high school parents, if your child is vaccinated and you have not yet uploaded evidence of their vaccine status, please do so as soon as possible. Providing us with this information can help speed the process of removing your child from a quarantine list. Please complete a separate form for each child in the district. To access the necessary form linked here, you will need to be on your child’s school-issued device or log into the form using your child’s school credentials.

+ On Tuesday, October 19, we will host an in-person Learning Café on the topic of Learning from the Pandemic Experience. Please follow this link to read more about the structure of a learning café and to register for next week’s event.

Finally, today, we learned of two individuals connected to John Jay Middle School who have tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing was necessary for one individual and has been completed. We wish both a full and fast recovery.

As always, my thanks to our entire community for your partnership and support.

Sincerely,

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
