September 11 & Equity
Dear KLSD Community,
Three important notes this afternoon:
First, we’d be remiss if we did not pause to remember the significance of this day in our nation’s history. September 11 will always be in our hearts. Let us never forget the memories of those who were tragically lost and the heroism of countless responders who gave their all in the days, weeks, and months that followed.
Second, I want to express my gratitude to the entire community – students, staff, and families – for the collective commitment that helped us bring students back to school this week. Let’s all stay vigilant so we can keep schools open. Families have done a great job so far with the morning health screeners. Please maintain that effort. We look forward to seeing more of our students on Monday.
Third, I’m inviting all community members to consider joining our KLSD Equity and Racial Justice Team. Please read documents linked below to learn more about the purpose of this team. There is important work to be done and I hope you’ll consider joining us.
I wish everyone a healthy and restful weekend.
Yours,
Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
