Return to School and State Guidance

April 14, 2021

Dear KLSD Families,

Since I last wrote to you regarding the new guidance for schools issued late last Friday night, we have pursued clarification of that guidance and its implications for our District through the New York State Department of Health, the Westchester County DOH, and our own legal counsel.

Unfortunately, despite those efforts, I do not yet have additional clarification.

At this time, we are moving forward with our return to school plans. Tomorrow, we look forward to welcoming all of our 6th and 9th graders.

In all schools, mask wearing continues to be mandatory. At lunch, students will be seated six feet apart in all schools. In many classrooms, students will likely be seated closer than six feet, but never closer than 3 feet.

If you have a concern about your child’s participation in school in light of the new guidance, please reach out to your child’s school principal.

Sincerely,

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
