Student COVID Reporting During Winter Break

Dear KLSD Families,

During the winter break, while our schools and offices are closed, we are changing the reporting process for COVID-19 positive students. This revised process will allow us to plan effectively for our return to school.

If you learn during the break that your child is COVID positive, please complete this linked form.

If a child tests positive during the break, given the length of the break, it is most likely that they will not be finished their isolation period in time to start school in person on January 3. We will be in touch about the exact date on which they may return.

Additionally, we will not be reporting nightly COVID updates during the break. Instead, just before the end of the break, I will share the totals by school that have been reported to us.

I encourage all our families to continue exercising all appropriate COVID precautions during the break so that we have every opportunity for a successful return in January. We continue to encourage vaccination for all students and boosters for those who are eligible, both for public health and to minimize the need for quarantining.

I wish our families and my colleagues a happy, peaceful, and healthy holiday break.

Sincerely,

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
