Talking about Healthy Choices
Hosting is Fun!
Red Ribbon Week Featured on Good Morning KES
One of the joys of being in fifth grade at KES is having your turn to host the school’s daily show, Good Morning KES, produced by librarian Jeanne Hand. Students learn a lot about poise and presentation. They can also feel like the celebrity of the day because all classes watch the short videos together for school news and more.
During Red Ribbon Week--a time to focus on healthy choices--the hosts included a short thought about healthy eating, exercise and mindfulness.
Good Morning KES always ends with the school’s PAWSome pledge: At KES we Practice respect, Accept responsibility. We choose kindness and Safety comes first. KES is PAWSome!
"What is a healthy choice?"
"Be your best at making healthy choices each day."
Fun Days and Giveaways
Red Ribbon Week at KES was full of fun activities that remind students to make healthy choices. Each day of the week had a special theme, including Wear at Hat Day for "hats off to healthy living" and Wear Sunglasses Day because "my future is bright."
Students wrote healthy choices on paw prints which decorate a bulletin board outside of School Social Worker Jessica Fulton's office. Their thoughtful decisions include to be kind, drink water instead of soda and play outside more.
All students will also receive a special "PAWs for Healthy Choices" trinket and a bookmark with the KES PAWsome Pledge.
