New Principal of Meadow Pond Elementary

Anticipated Appointment of Ashlyn Field

The Katonah Lewisboro School District announces the appointment of Ashlyn Field to the position of Principal of Meadow Pond Elementary School effective July 1, 2021. Field’s appointment was approved by the Board of Education at its meeting on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

“Ms. Field is an experienced, equity-minded leader, dedicated to the idea that in elementary school learning can be both meaningful and joyful,” said Superintendent Andrew Selesnick. “My thanks to the many colleagues and community members who were an important part of our hiring process.”

Superintendent Selesnick highlighted that, throughout the interview process, Field made clear her thoughtful dedication to creating a school community that supports student independence and growth, social-emotional needs, staff collaboration and family voice. “I’m confident she will come to know the many strengths Meadow Pond already embodies and help our school grow forward,” said Superintendent Selesnick. “She’s dedicated to an environment that encourages students to engage in critical thinking and develop their individual passions, and a school that is safe, inclusive and equitable for all.”

Field is an experienced school leader. Since 2017, she has been the Principal of Mott Haven Academy Charter School, a public school in the Bronx and the first charter school in the country to support the needs of students in the child welfare system. She was previously the Assistant Principal at the same school and, prior to that, spent seven years as a teacher in the NYC public schools. Field holds a master’s in educational leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College. She participated in the New York City Teaching Fellows program soon after graduating from Hamilton College and earned a master’s in urban education from Mercy College.
